The Official Opening 5 December 2013

The guests arrived to champagne and nibbles in the shed. Prior to official proceedings, the plaque and ribbons were prepared as well as some explanatory notes explaining various shed terminology.

I was given a fantastic "shed opening" gift.
The unveiled plaque said this.

It was fun. After introductory drinks and chit chat we adjourned to the house to show off the new kitchen.

We are ready to play

After all this time I've finally got to a point where I have a place for most things, the shed is tidy and I can invite my special guests to my shed. I've bored them all at work with details as its progressed and now we will have a celebratory drink and share my new space. I hope they will be impressed.

Getting the inside tidy.

Still lots to be done. All of the lining boards have been instaled and now that the old kitchen has been removed I've got a couple more cabinets to help organise the shed. Put six wheels on the cupboard and it's now mobile and I've also reattached all parts of the cabinet and pantry and instaled that over the fridge. It looks really good and is super practical. I also used a preformed display box and added a couple of segments. My old cricket bat, some photos and some of Pop's old tools are my reminders to enjoy my new surroundings every time I can.

Slotted lining board installed

The T.V. was done, I installed the final sheet of yellow tongue on the back wall to enable me to hang tools from it. I inherited 4 sheets of slotted board when Cameron moved from his factory. These are fantastic for storage because of their versatility. A range of brackets can be purchased depending on your needs. I installed 3 of these sheets and the final one will go up during the holidays when I get the electrician to refit the lights.

TV is done and display board painted

Michael the TV man came and finished the telly installation. Great picture good sound and a perfectly sized screen. After that I worked on the display board for my tools and once installed I gave it a coat of paint.

Shed wall and Mezzanine complete.

The wall has been painted and the steel and flooring for the mezzanine has now been installed.  Also have the TV man coming tomorrow to install the TV set. Have an opportunity to tidy the shed and make some sense of the space.

Wall complete

Finished off the final section of the wall tonight. All screwed and ready to be painted. A bit of delay due to work on Lach's house but a bit of paint and then the T.V bracket can be attached. Also have the floor section for the remainder of the mezzanine thanks to Cal and courtesy of Metricon.

Gable framing

A little more work on the frame to be done. Completed the gable frame this afternoon and will line it all up and fasten the lot in the next couple of days. Also need to ensure the television bracket will sit on framing studs but apart from that it'll be ready to clad. I can also ring the bloke to instal the antenna as well as run the cable from the roof.

Continue with the mezzanine.

Holidays are here and the weather has been hot. Now is the time to continue with the shed preparation. Today I worked on the wall and mezzanine at the storage end. Made the frame and fastened the chipboard cladding to it. Also added the 16mm chipboard to the mezzanine and then Michele and I relocated as many of our belongings into the storage area. Once we return from our trip to Rye I'll continue to build the second side of the wall.
